Arrangement of cedar shake shingles

I found these shingles at a store selling reclaimed building materials. Shingles are normally installed such that they overlap each other. As a result, each shingle is sharply divided in to an area that’s more and less weathered. Weathering produces a beautiful variety of colors that contrast nicely with the warm tones of the protected parts of the shingle. I assembled the shingles in to interesting patterns, illuminated them to enhance the texture, and photographed them.
