Pink Ginger, McBryde Garden, Kauai, Hawaii

Alpinia purpurata, or pink ginger, is a perennial plant native to Malaysia. While it may appear that these are pink petals, they’re actually bracts. Bracts are specialized leaves with a different color from the rest of the ginger plant.
