Bulbous buttercup (Ranunculus bulbosus)

The bulbous buttercup is a perennial native to Europe and the Mediterranean coast. It’s easily recognizable by its bright yellow petals. The bulbous part of the plant’s name refers to the portion of the stem that lies just beneath the surface. It’s swollen like a bulb and is used to store nutrients that enable the plant to survive through the winter.
