IMAX theater at the Maryland Science Center, Baltimore, Maryland
Sharp and ordered grids of featureless tempered glass panels are juxtaposed against a sky of soft, feathered clouds. A lack of any external markings produces an intriguing mystery as to this structure’s purpose. This is an exterior portion of the IMAX theater at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The Maryland Science Center was opened in 1976 and the IMAX theater was added in 1987. The theater was designed for a more immersive and realistic experience, where viewers sit in steeply tiered seating close to an enormous 55 ft high by 72 ft wide curved screen.
