Wild Violet (Viola papilionacea)

Viola papilionacea, or wild violet, is a perennial plant native to Maryland. The flower petals are generally a rich blue and purple, but are occasionally white. This plant is a useful food source for larval stage butterflies (caterpillars) and bees.
